English name : Pike Cichlid
This fish is rather aggressive to species of their own kind, they tolerate other species.  He is a large predatory fish that can not be kept together with smaller fish, because he thinks it is food.  The aquarium, that should be large enough, should be set up with roots and driftwood because the fish requires some hideouts. A territory is made. They don't like too much light, a dimmed light by using floating plants is appreciated.

You should give them live food such as small fish.  Beefheart, worms and shrimp are accepted as well.  After habituation they will eat pallets.

Breeding is not difficult.  The eggs are laid and fertilized in a large cave.  The eggs hatch after 4-5 days, and another 10-12 days later the young fishes are swimming free.  The first days the female cares for the fry and the male defends the territory.  When the young fishes swim free the male cares for them as well.
