Rather peaceful fish. Only in breeding time he is
somewhat aggressive. The aquarium should be set up
with driftwood, roots and stones that form hiding places and
caves. Some hard plants can be used for decoration as
well. You should give them live food such as mosquito larvae and Artemia. Dry food is accepted as well. Breeding is easy. The eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave. The female cares for the fry and the male defends the territory. After 3 days the eggs hatch and another 5 days later the young fishes are swimming free. Both parents now care for the young until they have a length of 2-3 cm (1"). The young fishes can be raised with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed dry food. |
