Rather peaceful fish, only during breeding time he is
somewhat aggressive while he is defending his young.
The aquarium should be set up with stones, driftwood and
roots because they need hiding places. Plants can be
used for decoration as well. In spite of mentioned
water-values you can keep them in different values (up to Ph
7.4 and Gh 19) They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. Breeding is not difficult. A small amount of eggs are laid and fertilized on a flat stone. The eggs are covered with sand. After 3 days the eggs hatch, and the fry is moved to a breeding pit. After 9 days the young fishes are swimming free. Both parents care for them. You can raise them with baby brine shrimp. |
