Peaceful schooling fish that should be kept with at least 8-10 fishes.  When they are kept in smaller numbers they get shy.  You can keep them in a community aquarium together with other peaceful fishes.  The aquarium should be well planted on the sides and the background.  The substrate should be dark and the light should be dimmed by using some floating plants, to bring out the colours of this fish.

You should feed them small live food.  Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.

Breeding is easy.  Because the parents eat their eggs you have to use a spawning grid.  100-400 eggs are laid and fertilized.  After spawning the parents should be removed.  After 3 days the eggs hatch and after another 2 days the young fishes are swimming free.  You can feed them with very fine infusoria and a few days later with baby brine shrimp.
