Very peaceful schooling fish that you can keep in a community aquarium together with other small and peaceful fishes.  A dark substrate and a dimmed light bring out the colours of the fish.  You should use a peat filter.

He is omnivorous.  You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food.

Breeding is not difficult.  The water should be soft and acid.  The light should be dimmed and you don't need a substrate.  In a substrate of cotton-wool they lay and fertilize 50-300 eggs.  After spawning the parents should be removed.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with very fine infusoria and after a week with Artemia-nauplii.
