You should keep one male of this species together with
several females. The aquarium should be decorated
with a substrate of fine gravel and a lot of rocks that
form caves and crevices. They can be combined with other
cichlids from Lake Malawi that are not too large .
They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live. frozen and dry food. Breeding is rather easy. The eggs are laid in a pit. After that the female takes the eggs in her mouth immediately. They are fertilized by the male using the dummy egg method. After 2 weeks the young fishes leave the mouth of the mother. At that time they are large enough to eat fine crushed dry food. |
