Peaceful fish that you can keep together with other peaceful
fishes in a community aquarium. The aquarium should be
planted densely on the sides and background. In the
middle you should leave a large open swimming area. A
good filter and a regular changing of the water are
appreciated. It is wise to add 2 teespoons salt to 25
liters of water. You can keep them as a pair or in a
small group. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. Breeding is not difficult. The temperature should be rather high. They are viviparous and if the parents are well fed and there are enough hiding places between roots of floating plants, the young fishes can survive in the same aquarium. After a gestation period of 6 weeks the young fishes are born. You can raise them with fine crushed dry food. They grow quickly. |
