Length : 6 cm - 2.4"
Min. length aquarium : 60 cm - 25"
English name : Bluefin killifish
Rather peaceful fish to species of their own kind.  To other species they are sometimes somewhat aggressive.  The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and background.  You can use some driftwood and roots for decoration as well, because they need some hiding places.  In the middle you should leave enough free swimming space.

You should give them live food such as mosquito larvae.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not very difficult.  During breeding time every day a few eggs are laid and fertilized in a spawning mop.  You should remove the eggs from the mop and bring them to a breeding scale, because the parents eat their own eggs.  At a temperature of  20°C  (68°F) the eggs hatch after 12 days.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can feed them with very fine infusoria for the first days, and later with baby brine shrimp.
