To species of their own kind they are rather intolerant.
You should keep one male together with several females.
The aquarium should be set up with stones and rocks to create
crevices and caves. You can use some hard plants for
decoration. They don't burrow the substrate.
They prefer live food, but after a while they get used to dry food. A part of the food should be vegetable such as lettuce and algae. Breeding is easy. The female lays the eggs and immediately after that she takes the eggs in her mouth. They are fertilized by the male using the dummy egg method. After a week the young fishes leave the mouth of the mother. You can raise them with baby brine shrimp. |
