Length : 9 cm - 3.5"
Min.length aquarium : 100 cm - 40"
English name : Goldeneye Cichlid
This fish should be kept as a pair.  They are very peaceful, only during breeding time they are very intolerant to their own species.  The aquarium should be setup with driftwood and stones that create caves and planted densely.

You should give them small live food. They accept dry food barely.

Breeding is easy.  50-300 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  The female guards the fry.  In a small aquarium the male should be removed, because the the female chases him, sometimes to death.  In a large aquarium the male defends the territory.  In a large aquarium you can keep more females.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with Artemia-nauplii and fine crushed dry food.
