You should keep this fish as a pair.  Because they are very aggressive to each other it is wise to keep only one couple.  The aquarium should be set up with rocks and stones that form caves and crevices. You can use some plants as well.  The substrate should be sandy.  A territory is made.

You should give them powerful live food like mosquito larvae and Artemia.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is easy.  Up to 150 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  The female defends the cave and the male defends the territory.
