Neolamprologus obscurus

Explanation of the symbols

Family : Cichlidae
Origin : Lake Tanganyika
Length : 9 cm - 3.5"
Min. length aquarium : 100 cm - 40"
This fish is rather aggressive to species of their own kind, but they are rather peaceful to other species.  You should keep them as a pair. The aquarium should be set up with  substrate of fine gravel and a lot of rocks that form caves and crevices.   Some hard plants can be used for decoration as well.

You should give them live food such as Artemia, Mysis and mosquito larvae.   Frozen and dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not difficult.  Up to 60 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  The female cares for the fry and the male defends the territory.  You can raise the young fishes with baby brine shrimp.
