Length : 5 cm - 2"
Min. length aquarium : 60 cm - 25"
English name : False Rummynose Tetra
Lively, peaceful schooling fish that is not easy to keep because they are rather sensitive for fresh water.  If you change the water you should use a good preparation to make the water better.  You can keep them very well together with fishes from "black water" rivers.  The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and background.  In the middle you should leave a lot of free swimming space.  A dark substrate and a dimmed light by using floating plants bring out the colours of the fish.

You should give them small live food like Artemia and mosquito larvae.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding in the aquarium is very difficult.  In very soft water a small number of eggs are laid between fine leaved plants.  After spawning the parents should be removed.  The eggs hatch after 30 hours.  When they are swimming free you can raise them with very fine infusoria and dustfood such as paramecia and rotifers.
