Very peaceful fish that should be kept in a special aquarium
for livebearers. The aquarium should be planted
densely and the water should be rather hard. They
don't like too high temperatures. He is rather
sensitive for a large changing of the water. It is
better to change water more often, but in small parts. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. A large part of the food should be vegetable. Breeding is easy. They are viviparous. After a gestation period of 24 days 10-50 young fishes are born. When the parents are well fed the young fishes can survive in the same aquarium. The young born fishes sink to the bottom and after one hour they swim free. You can raise them with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed (vegetable) dry food. |
