Peaceful fish that can be kept together with other peaceful
small fishes in a community aquarium. It is not a real
schooling fish but you should keep them in a group.
You should plant the aquarium densely on the sides and
background. In the middle you should leave enough free
swimming space. A dimmed light by using floating
plants and a regular changing of the water are appreciated. You should give them small live food. They barely accept dry food. Breeding is not difficult. Up to 300 eggs are laid and fertilized on a leaf. It is wise to remove the female after spawning. The male takes care of the fry until 2 days after hatching. Then you should remove the male as well. Two or three days later the young fishes are swimming free. You can raise them with infusoria and later with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed dry food. |
