Family : Cyprinidae
Origin : Vietnam
Length : 2,5 cm - 1"
Min.length aquarium : 60 cm - 20"
English name : Vietnamese Cardinal Minnow
Peaceful, somewhat shy fish.  It is not wise to keep this fish together with other fishes that are too large and lively.  Then they hide between the plants.  The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and background.  In the middle you should leave a lot of free swimming space.  This species in discovered only a few years ago at one particular place in Vietnam between two fast growing cities.  It is the expectation that they disappear into a few years.  A powerful filter and a dimmed light by using floating plants are appreciated.

You should give them small live food.  Small dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is very easy.  After a cooler period you should raise the temperature above 20°C (68°F).  The eggs are laid and fertilized between fine leaved plants.  The parents don't harm the fry.  After 3 days the eggs hatch and another 3 days later the young fishes are swimming free.  You can raise them with very fine infusoria.  They grow fast.
