| A timid and peaceful fish and somewhat territorial towards
fish that enter its territory.  Do not combine with
small fish, under 3" (8 cm), as they will likely be mistaken
for food and consumed. This species will not harm plants.
The tank should be decorated with  substrate of fine gravel
and a lot of rocks that form caves and crevices.  They
can be combined with other cichlids from Lake Tanganyika. They should be fed with live food. They are predators and like to eat small fish. Breeding is easy.  Up to 300 eggs are laid in a cave.
The female takes care of the eggs and the fry.  The
male defends the territory. When they are swimming free, the
young fishes should be fed with baby brine shrimp. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
