Very aggressive fish that has a large territory. His
nickname is "Jack Dempsey" after the the former boxing
champion. He digs a lot in the substrate and he eats
plants. The aquarium should be set up with stones and
driftwood to create hiding places. The substrate
should me sandy. You can feed them with powerful live or frozen food. A large part of the food should be vegetable like lettuce and spinach. Breeding is very easy. After cleaning a flat stone 500-800 eggs are laid and fertilized on that stone. After hatching the fry is brought to breeding pits. Both parents take care of the fry very carefully. When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with Artemia-nauplii and fine crushed dry food. |
